Cilantro Pan Fried Turnips

Serves 2

25 minutes

Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil 
1 teaspoon minced garlic
¼ cup chopped cilantro, more to taste 
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground white pepper 

Directions
  1. Peel and dice turnips into ½ inch cubes.

  2. In a skillet over medium, heat olive oil for 1 minute. Add garlic and cilantro and cook for 1 minute. Stir in turnips, salt, pepper, cover and cook for 10 minutes. 

  3. Remove cover and increase heat to high and saute turnips for another 5 minutes until slightly golden. Stir in additional cilantro if desired. 


Quick Tips
  • Turnips are a good source of Vitamin C, potassium and vitamin B6.

  • This root vegetable is mostly made of water and is low in calories. It is a  healthier substitute for potatoes. 

  • Turnips can be eaten raw or cooked. Raw turnips are spicy while cooked turnips are mild and sweet.
