Saffron Brooklyn was established in October of 2009 in Fort Greene by Kana Togashi and Tetsuji Nakatomi after completing degrees in fine arts and architecture. As the project of a New Yorker who was raised and grew up in Fort Greene, Saffron has become a space that brings both the old and new community together. They specialize in unique arrangements informed by their team’s experience in the arts that have earned them a reputation for their distinct sensibilities over the past decade. They also focus on working with local and emerging artists and collaborate with like-minded organizations. 

In May of 2019, they decided to open their second location at Essex Market, likewise guided by a belief in bringing unconventional, daring flowers to the surrounding community in a manner rooted in personal connection.
