In 2012 Annika Sundvik and her partners, John Lavelle and Lu Ratunil, debuted Nordic Preserves, Fish & Wildlife, marking their presence with a caribou head on the wall of their stall. Before coming to Essex Market, the caribou head watched over Annika’s two previous neighborhood restaurants. While running these spots, Annika and her team knew the market was the place to go when they needed items right away, so when the opportunity arose they moved in. 

Nordic Preserves offers specialties from Annika’s home of Sweden and surrounding Nordic countries. They are best known for their house cured Herring, marinated in flavors such as citrus and hot curry,  as well as homemade gravlax and meatballs.
